A story of Salim the driver, an inspiration who was taking pilgrims and terrorists attacked the bus but this man didn’t stopped rather kept on going till he reached a safe point.
Salim Mirza, a bus driver full of pilgrims travelling to Amarnath Yatra, later on Monday evening saw death very closely. He had been driving the same route for a long time now, but hadn’t seen something like this before. He was driving the bus when he saw terrorists who suddenly started to fire indiscriminately. If he had stopped, there would have been a huge number of casualties but this courageous man didn’t.
It was around 8pm when the terrorists surrounded the bus and started to fire, Salim showed courage and didn’t stop the bus. He drove the yatris to a safe area almost 2 kilometres from the place of firing. There were 56 passengers on the bus and the attack left seven dead and over 30 injured.
This man got his courage from Allah and saved the pilgrims travelling to Amarnath, a sacred Hindu Pilgrimage!
He tried to escape the firing and helped the sleeping pilgrims to reach a safe spot on the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway, an army camp. He became an inspiration overnight and will be awarded Rs 3 lakhs for the exemplary act of bravery. But how he got the power of saving and taking such decision so quickly? When asked he told that, he got his strength and help from Allah and was able to take such decision.
Everyone on the bus praised this courageous man’s bravery who took risk of saving them despite of his own life. He is also being nominated for a bravery award from the government of Gujarat, his home-state. The route of Amarnath Yatra is now under the control of Indian Army and is safe to travel. The pilgrims saw a devastating act of terrorism and are still under the shock. The central government is also following a safety protocol and cooperation with the authorities.
